Is it really private?
Yes. Snipkin has no way to reach the internet, so it physically can't send your screenshots anywhere. No analytics, no account, no telemetry.
Do I need the Mac App Store?
No. Get it from the Mac App Store or download the .dmg, both free during early access.
Which macOS versions are supported?
macOS 14 Sonoma or later, on Apple silicon or Intel, a universal binary.
Is it really free? What is the catch?
No catch, and no trial that runs out. Snipkin is new, so it is free during early access while I find out what people actually need from it. Paid plans will start later; when they do, this page will say so clearly and well before it happens. The .dmg you download during early access has no time limit, and it never updates itself. The Mac App Store version is the exception: the store updates it automatically, as it does for any app. The first time you open a version with paid plans, your 14-day trial will begin; everyone gets the full 14 days, whenever they installed. After the trial, full-screen capture will stay free, and region, window and scrolling capture will need Snipkin Pro.
How does scrolling capture work?
Press ⌃⇧4, select the area, scroll at your own pace, click Done, Snipkin stitches it into one tall PNG. Tip: keep sticky headers out of the selection.
Do you need any special permissions?
Only one is required: Screen Recording, granted once, the same permission every screenshot tool uses. Snipkin asks to show notifications only when a license is activated or ends, so saying no changes nothing. Versions before 2.6 asked at first launch, for a single welcome note.
