AnimaLearn, Privacy Policy

Last updated: 5 October 2026 · Versiunea în română mai jos

The game itself collects nothing. It stores nothing about you, and it sends nothing anywhere. It works entirely offline, with no ads, no purchases, no accounts, and no analytics. The one exception is Google's ARCore, on Android. It is part of the app from the moment you launch the game, but the AR session, the camera, and the contact with Google Play Services for AR start only when you enter the augmented reality mode. Google Play Services for AR collects some data for Google, as described below.

Who is responsible

AnimaLearn (ro.ontagonal.animalearn, Android and iOS) is made by Timotei Petre, an independent developer based in Romania. You can reach me at [email protected] for anything in this policy.

Fully offline

On Android, the app does not even request the internet permission, so the operating system itself prevents it from ever connecting to the network. This is not a promise in our code, it is a restriction enforced by Android, and anyone can verify it in the app's permission list.

On iOS

The iOS version has been in the App Store since 26 August 2026, listed as Made for Kids. Its augmented reality mode runs on Apple ARKit, on the device. Unity's telemetry is switched off, and the game has no online features and does not use the network.

Camera, only in AR mode

If you choose the augmented reality mode, the camera image is processed exclusively on your device, by Google ARCore on Android or Apple ARKit on iOS, to place the animals in the room around you. No image is ever recorded, saved, or transmitted. The camera permission is requested only when you enter AR mode, and the game works fully without it, the animals are then shown in a classic 3D view, and the quiz is unaffected.

Google Play Services for AR, on Android

On Android, Google's ARCore is part of the app from the moment you launch the game. The AR session, the camera, and the contact with Google Play Services for AR, a separate app from Google, start only when you enter the augmented reality mode. Google states that ARCore automatically collects: your Google account identifiers if you are signed in to a Google account, or device identifiers if you are not; performance and diagnostic data about the app, ARCore and the device, for example battery life, loading time, latency, and framerate; and data about the ARCore API calls the app makes. Google uses this data for analytics and to keep ARCore working properly, says it does not share it with third parties, and handles it under the Google Privacy Policy. Google also states that the user data ARCore collects on devices that originally shipped with the Google Play Store is encrypted in transit using HTTPS. It is Google's service that collects this data, not the game. Apart from ARCore, nothing in the game collects data.

Motion sensors, only for AR

AR tracking uses the phone's motion sensors (gyroscope and accelerometer, read by ARCore or ARKit at high frequency) to keep the animals steady in your room. The game uses them on the device and does not store or send their data.

Local settings only

The game keeps your best quiz scores and the language you picked on the device. They are removed when you uninstall the app. Apart from ARCore, described above, there are no advertising, analytics, crash reporting, or tracking components of any kind.

Children

The game is made for children. The game itself collects no data from anyone, children included, so I hold nothing of theirs to review or delete. The exception is ARCore on Android: it is part of the app from the moment you launch the game, but the contact with Google Play Services for AR, which collects the data described above for Google, happens only when AR mode is entered. Parents can verify the strongest part of this themselves: on Android, the app's listed permissions do not include internet access.

Changes

If a future version ever changes any of the above (for example, by adding an online feature), this policy will be updated before that version is released, and the change will be visible in the app's permission list.

AnimaLearn, Politica de confidențialitate

Ultima actualizare: 5 octombrie 2026

Google Play Services for AR, pe Android
